The largest and only village in Cinque Terre with a proper sandy beach, a popular destination for swimming and relaxation. The old town (Paese Vecchio) with the 13th-century church of San Giovanni Battista and the remains of a tower offers a historic atmosphere. The gigantic sculpture of Neptune (Il Gigante) carved into the cliff is one of the local landmarks.
The public beach is free of charge, but sunbed rental is paid (around 15–25 EUR per person). The old town is free to walk around. The busiest spot during the summer season — early arrival is recommended.
