The only one of the five villages not situated directly by the sea, but rather on a cliff 100 meters above it, giving it a distinctive character and tranquility. The village is reached via a stairway of 382 steps (Lardarina) or by minibus from the railway station. The 14th-century church of San Pietro and the Ciappà narrows offer iconic views.
Entry to the village is free. The minibus from the station charges a nominal ticket. Due to its position, Corniglia is the least crowded of all five villages — ideal for a peaceful visit.
