Known as the 'Queen of the Mountains', Rigi (1,797 m) is the first mountain railway destination in Europe — the rack railway has been operating since 1871. From the summit, there is a spectacular view of more than 13 lakes, alpine peaks, and the Reuss river valley. Particularly popular for sunrise.
A ticket for the boat to Vitznau and the rack railway to the summit costs around 64 CHF (≈64 EUR) for a round trip. The Swiss Travel Pass covers a large portion of the costs. Sunny days are the ideal time to visit — always check the weather forecast.
