Lucerne's old town center on the banks of the Reuss River is adorned with a series of exceptionally well-preserved buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries, vivid frescoes on façades, and cobblestone streets. The City Hall (Rathaus) from 1606 dominates Kornmarkt and stands as a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. Weinmarkt square and its fountains complete the authentic atmosphere.
