A crystal-clear glacial lake east of Interlaken, known for having some of the purest water in Switzerland. On its shore lies the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum and the Giessbach Falls, reached by the only steam-powered boat in Switzerland. The color of the water varies from turquoise to deep blue depending on the light.
Ticket for a boat cruise to Brienz or Giessbach; Swiss Travel Pass is valid for free. The steam boat 'DS Lötschberg' sails on weekends only and offers a special experience. A combination with a visit to Giessbach Falls is recommended.
