Founded in 1929, it is one of the oldest and largest zoos in Switzerland, with more than 380 animal species across 27 hectares. It is renowned for the Masoala Pavilion from 2003 — an 11,000-square-meter greenhouse that recreates a Madagascan rainforest with free-flying birds and lemurs within an enclosed space.
