The highest point of the Dubrovnik city walls, Minčeta Tower reached its final form in 1464 according to the design of Juraj Dalmatinac, the same architect who built the Šibenik Cathedral. The double circular ring of battlements — the inner one lower, the outer one higher — was engineered to withstand cannon fire, which at the time represented the most advanced defensive principle in Dalmatia. From the top, the entire circuit of walls stretching 1,940 meters is visible, as well as the open sea to the south and the Srđ mountain massif to the north.
