The square, about 250 meters long, is lined with Renaissance and Baroque facades dating from the 15th to the 18th century — a single glance takes in several centuries of the city's history. At the northern end of the square stands a Gothic church, while the southern end features a city clock and the Baroque Church of St. Francis Xavier from 1702. A great starting point for any sightseeing — spend a morning hour here while the cafes are still quiet.
