Agrigento is a city in southwestern Sicily, known for the Valley of the Temples, one of the most significant archaeological sites of ancient Greece outside of modern-day Greece. Founded as a Greek colony in the 6th century BC, it was for centuries one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia. Today, its Doric temples, together with the archaeological area, are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List and represent the main reason visitors come to Agrigento.

Everything you need for Agrigento in one place
One of the most significant Greek archaeological sites outside of modern-day Greece, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The archaeological park encompasses seven Doric temples from the 5th century BCE, among which the Temple of Concordia stands out as one of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world. During the summer months, the park can also be visited in the evening hours when the temples are illuminated.
One of the most important archaeological museums in Sicily, located next to the Valle dei Templi in the former monastery of San Nicola. It houses finds from ancient Akragas – ceramics, coins, sculptures, and the original telamon figures from the Temple of Zeus, which provide additional context for visiting the archaeological park.
The historic center of Agrigento developed on a hill above the Valley of the Temples, preserving a network of narrow streets, churches, and baroque palaces. The main street Via Atenea is the backbone of city life, with numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants. From certain parts of the old town, there are views of the Valley of the Temples.
The white limestone cliff of Scala dei Turchi descends into the sea in distinctive terraces, making it one of the most recognizable natural sights in Sicily.
