Brtonigla is a small town in northwestern Istria, situated on a hill about 140 meters above sea level and four kilometers from the sea, on the road between Buje and Novigrad. In just around thirty square kilometers, all four Istrian soil types meet here — white, grey, black, and red — so the same grape variety from different plots yields noticeably different wines. For this reason, the town is known for its wines and olive oil. The settlement has a population of around 700 inhabitants.
