Everything you need for Genoa in one place
A 12th-century Genoese cathedral with a facade in black-and-white stripes characteristic of Ligurian Romanesque architecture. Inside is the Cathedral Treasury, housing the reliquary of St. John the Baptist and a chalice associated with the Holy Grail. It is located in the heart of the old town, near Palazzo Ducale.
One of the largest aquariums in Europe, with more than 12,000 marine organisms in around 70 tanks. Located on the old Porto Antico harbor, opened in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus's voyage. Particularly popular with families with children.
Strada Nuova (today's Via Garibaldi) is one of the most beautiful historic streets in Genoa, built in the 16th century as a representative district of aristocratic palaces. Three palaces — Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco, and Palazzo Doria-Tursi — today form a joint museum complex featuring works by Flemish and Italian masters, including Rubens and Van Dyck. The street, together with the system of Genoese palaces, has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
