Everything you need for Kefalonia in one place
An underground lake in a cave whose roof collapsed several thousand years ago, creating a natural opening through which sunlight falls onto the turquoise water. The visit is made by boat, and the light effect is most pronounced around noon. The entrance is near Sama on the eastern shore of the island.
A stalagmite cave formed approximately 150 million years ago, opened to visitors after the 1953 earthquake revealed its main chamber. The large hall is known for its exceptional acoustics and is occasionally used for concerts. It is located in the interior of the island, between Sami and Argostoli.
The Drapano stone bridge from 1813, built by the British, crosses the lagoon near Argostoli and connects the city with the opposite shore. Walking across the bridge offers views of the lagoon, and during quieter parts of the day sea turtles and pelicans can often be spotted. The harbor promenade continues directly from the bridge and is popular for morning and evening walks.
