Everything you need for Santa Margherita Ligure in one place
A 17th-century Baroque basilica dedicated to the patron saint of the city, adorned with numerous votive offerings left by sailors as a token of gratitude for being saved at sea. The interior is distinguished by richly decorated walls, a ceiling with frescoes, and a main altar housing the relics of the saint.
A medieval fortress situated on a hill above the town, originally built to defend against pirate attacks. Today it is privately owned and not open to visitors, but you can walk up to it, from where there is a beautiful view of the Gulf of Tigullio and the surrounding coastline.
The main coastal promenade in Santa Margherita Ligure stretches along the sea, lined with palm trees, historic villas, and hotels from the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is popular for morning and evening walks, and along the entire promenade there are views toward Portofino and the Ligurian Sea.
The coastal hiking trail connects Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, passing through a pine forest and Mediterranean vegetation, with numerous views of the sea and small coves.
