Skiathos is one of the most famous islands of the Sporades, known for its pine forests that descend to the sea, sandy beaches, and a picturesque harbor. Everything you need for Skiathos in one place
The old town of Skiathos stretches above the harbor and is known for its narrow cobblestone streets, white houses, and small squares. The main pedestrian street, Papadiamantis, leads from the harbor through the town center, lined with numerous tavernas, shops, and cafes. Most attractions are within a few minutes walk, so the best way to explore is on foot.
An 18th-century Orthodox monastery nestled in the forested hills above Skiathos. It is known for being the place where, in 1807, the flag that became a symbol of the Greek struggle for independence was blessed. The monastery remains active to this day and can be visited with appropriate attire.
Museum located in the birthplace of the Greek writer Alexandros Papadiamantis, one of the most significant authors of modern Greek literature. The authentically preserved interior displays his workspace, personal belongings, and manuscripts. The museum is situated in the center of the old town.
A boat trip around Skiathos leads to the island's most famous beaches and sea caves, including Lalaria and the Skotini cave.
