Berchtesgaden National Park

Berchtesgaden National Park was established in 1978 and is the only alpine national park in Germany. It covers approximately 210 km², ranging from deep valleys and lakes to high mountain ridges. Forests, alpine meadows, and rocky landscapes alternate across a relatively compact area, while in the most strictly protected zones nature is left to develop without direct human interference. Visitors explore the park via marked hiking trails and viewpoints.
