Dolomite Railway Cycling Route to Cortina

The trail follows the route of the Dolomite Railway, a narrow-gauge line built during the First World War and closed in the 1960s. From Dobbiaco it climbs gently through the Landro Valley, passing Lake Dobbiaco, a military cemetery, a viewpoint over the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and Lake Dürrensee, before reaching the highest point at the Cimabanche pass, then descends through old tunnels and across bridges to Cortina d'Ampezzo. The ascent is steady because the trail follows the former railway alignment, making it accessible to recreational walkers as well. The trail is open during the warmer months; plan your return journey to Dobbiaco before setting out.
