One of the oldest zoos in Europe (founded in 1866), located in City Park (Városliget). In addition to a collection of over 1,000 animal species from around the world, it features historic Art Nouveau pavilions (the Elephant House — a masterpiece from 1912), aquariums, terrariums, and a botanical garden. Educational programs for children, as well as entertaining activities throughout the day. Széchenyi Thermal Baths and Heroes' Square are in the immediate vicinity — easily combined into a full-day family tour.
