Diavolezza

The Diavolezza cable car climbs from 2,096 to 2,978 metres above sea level in around seven minutes, with the lower station located next to the Bernina railway stop. From the mountain lodge terrace, visitors can take in views of Piz Bernina — the only summit exceeding 4,000 metres in the Eastern Alps — as well as Piz Palü and the Pers and Morteratsch glaciers. At the top there is a restaurant and viewing terrace, and guided glacier tours are organised by the Pontresina mountaineering school. The cable car does not operate year-round, so it is worth checking the timetable before setting out.
