A small village beside Duddingston Loch, three kilometres from the centre, with a church dating from the early 1100s and the Sheep Heid Inn — one of the oldest pubs in Scotland, established in the mid-1300s. Dr Neil's Garden by the lake is free to enter and particularly beautiful in spring.
