First and Lake Bachalpsee

From Interlaken, a train runs to Grindelwald, a village at the foot of the Eiger's north face, from where a gondola travels via the Bort and Schreckfeld stations to First, at 2,166 metres, in around 25 minutes. Near the upper station begins the First Cliff Walk, a circular path along the cliff edge with the First View lookout point, while a trail of roughly one hour's walking leads to Lake Bachalpsee. In summer, visitors can also descend from First by zip line and mountain cart. In winter, First is a ski area, and a winter trail leads towards Bachalpsee, though its accessibility depends on snow conditions.
