Lake Misurina

Lake Misurina lies beyond the Tre Croci pass, on a plateau surrounded by the peaks of Sorapiss, Cristallo, and the Cadini group. A flat path runs around the lake, and the surrounding mountains are reflected in its still waters; the Tre Cime di Lavaredo are also visible from the northern shore. Speed skating races were held on the frozen lake during the 1956 Winter Olympics. Misurina is also the starting point for the road to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, though it makes an equally rewarding destination on its own as a quieter, more leisurely excursion.
