Palpuogna Lake

Palpuogna Lake (Lai da Palpuogna) lies above Preda, below the Albula Pass, surrounded by larch forest, with crystal-clear water and mountains in the background. Swiss television viewers voted it one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland. A forest trail leads from Preda station to the lake in under an hour on foot, and along the shore there are picnic areas with fire pits. Parking at the lake is very limited, so the train to Preda is the best way to get there. In winter, the lake is reached via a snowshoe trail.
