An imposing fortress ruin (Kalaja e Kaninës) from the ancient period, situated on top of a high hill above Vlorë. From the walls, a 360-degree view opens up over the city, the bay, and the surrounding mountains. Over the centuries, the fortress was held by the Byzantines, Normans, Serbs, Albanians, and Ottomans, and in the twentieth century it suffered major damage during wartime conflicts. Today, one tower and impressive sections of the walls that can be walked along are preserved. No public transport — best reached by taxi from Vlorë.
