Krems and Stein

The largest town at the eastern end of the Wachau, merged with the ancient village of Stein into a seamless whole of medieval streets, gateways and churches. It is also home to a contemporary arts quarter with several museums, making Krems a natural complement to the wine villages: a town for a rainy day and for everything that Dürnstein lacks. Accessible year-round by car, by the Wachaubahn train, or by boat during the season.
