Kruja — Castle and Bazaar

Kruja is a town closely tied to Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania — the clifftop castle and the Skanderbeg Museum dominate the settlement. Below the fortress stretches an old Ottoman bazaar that has been operating for centuries, with shops full of carpets, souvenirs, and traditional handicrafts. Along with visiting the fortress and museum, a stroll along the cobblestone bazaar and a view over the valley make it a well-rounded day trip from the capital.
