Landwasser Viaduct

The Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur is the most famous structure on the Albula Railway: a curved stone bridge, 65 metres high and 136 metres long, one end of which leads directly into a tunnel cut into the rock face. From Bergün, Filisur is reached by train, and from Filisur station a footpath leads to a viewpoint beneath the bridge. The sight of a train emerging from the rock and crossing the viaduct is one of the most iconic images of Swiss railways.
