Mamula — fortress island at the entrance to Boka

Mamula is a small island at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, recognizable by its monumental Austro-Hungarian fortress built in the 19th century. Its position between the Luštica peninsula and Prevlaka gave it an important strategic role in controlling access to the bay. Today the island hosts a hotel complex, so access to certain areas depends on the current visiting arrangements. Mamula is therefore most commonly experienced during a boat tour, taking in views of the fortress from the sea and combining the visit with the Blue Cave and the coves of Luštica.
