A fishing village on the southeastern coast of Malta, known for its colorful traditional boats (luzzu) with painted eyes on the bow — a belief dating back to the Phoenician period. Every Sunday, a large fish market is held in the harbor, where local fishermen sell their midnight catch — from sea bream and sea bass to octopus and cuttlefish. Restaurants along the harbor offer fresh fish prepared in traditional Maltese style. The slower pace of life and authentic fishing-Mediterranean atmosphere represent a different side of Malta compared to Valletta and the tourist centers in the north of the island. Accessible by bus from Valletta (line 81, approximately 45 minutes).
