Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg

Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg

The gondola from Grindelwald Terminal travels up to Männlichen. Its predecessor, opened in 1978, was at 6.2 km the longest cable car of its type in the world. From the upper station, the Royal Walk leads to the summit of Männlichen at 2,343 metres, with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, Grindelwald, and the Lauterbrunnen valley. A panoramic trail then leads to Kleine Scheidegg through a protected ancient Swiss stone pine forest, with the north face of the Eiger directly ahead, and the return to Grindelwald is by train. In winter, Männlichen is a ski resort, and a groomed winter trail runs to Kleine Scheidegg when conditions allow.
