Nin is a small medieval town on the mainland, surrounded by a shallow lagoon whose sand is known for its therapeutic mud. The historic core preserves the Romanesque church of Sveti Križ, and from the embankment around the former fortifications there are views of Velebit and the surrounding lagoon.
