Oplenac and Topola

Oplenac, near Topola, is known for the Church of St. George, an endowment of King Peter I, whose interior is decorated with mosaics based on Serbian medieval frescoes. The crypt houses the mausoleum of the Karađorđević dynasty, and at the foot of the hill lies Topola with the remains of a fortress from the time of Karađorđe.
