A dramatic canyon at the foot of the Velebit mountain, a favorite destination for hikers and nature lovers. Two gorges — Velika and Mala Paklenica — offer trails for all fitness levels, and hidden within the canyon is an impressive partisan underground base from World War II that is open to visitors. Adjacent to the canyon is the Adriatic coastline in Starigrad.
