Hiking Trail Cres – Lake Vrana

Vrana is the only freshwater lake on Cres and one of the reasons the island has permanent residents at all — it also supplies Lošinj with water. The trail from the town itself leads through maquis and olive groves to the lake at 70 meters above sea level, with views over the surrounding coves. The water is drinkable, the lake is not used for swimming, but the setting is extraordinary — a limestone basin with reeds and griffon vultures circling overhead.
