An exceptionally well-preserved medieval town protected by UNESCO, located 90 km southeast of Paris. It was one of the most important trading centers in Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries — host to the famous Champagne Fairs. The upper town is encircled by massive defensive walls along which visitors can walk, complete with watchtowers and gateways. The most recognizable landmark is Tour César with its panoramic views. The lower town is home to medieval houses, tunnels beneath the streets, and the magnificent church of Saint-Quiriace. During the season, medieval shows featuring knights and falconers are held. Train from Gare de l'Est takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
