A city in the heart of the Champagne region, about 145 km northeast of Paris. The central attraction is Reims Cathedral (Notre-Dame de Reims), a Gothic masterpiece from the 13th century and the coronation site of French kings for nearly a thousand years. The city is also a center of champagne production — major houses such as Taittinger, Vranken-Pommery, and Veuve Clicquot organize cellar tours with tastings. Plan for 2-3 visits with breaks in between. From Paris, the TGV from Gare de l'Est arrives in 45 minutes.
