Tiergarten Schönbrunn

The oldest continuously operating zoo in the world, founded in 1752 as part of the Schloss Schönbrunn complex. Home to more than 700 species of animals, including giant pandas, koalas, polar bears, elephants, and Siberian tigers. Some of the 18th-century imperial pavilions have been preserved (the imperial pavilion and the palm house), while the modern exhibits meet contemporary animal welfare standards. One of the finest family days out in Europe, it pairs perfectly with a visit to Schloss Schönbrunn. Easily reached by metro on line U4, alighting at Hietzing station.
