Schöckl

The nearest mountain peak to Graz, rising to 1,445 metres, roughly 15 kilometres north of the city. A cable car runs from the base to the plateau, and the summit can also be reached via marked hiking trails; on a clear day the view stretches across the whole of Styria, all the way to the Slovenian and Hungarian borders. The plateau is a favourite among paragliders, and mountain huts operate both at the base and at the top.
