The tour starts in the morning at Námestie SNP while the square is still quiet — plenty of time to take in the Renaissance facades, the Barbican, and the Gothic Church of Saint Mary with its Holbein altar. The highlight is a visit to the SNP Museum, whose concrete 1969 architecture and detailed exhibition on the 1944 partisan uprising together make it one of the finest war memorial complexes in Central Europe. The tour ends with a coffee at one of the cafes in the arcades around the square — there are several worth a brief stop. An English-language audio guide is available at the museum.
