Šibenik

Šibenik is a city at the mouth of the Krka river, about sixty kilometers south of Zadar, first mentioned in 1066 in a charter of King Petar Krešimir IV. Its centerpiece is the Cathedral of St. James, built entirely of stone — without mortar or timber — and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The old town is a web of steep stone streets and staircases climbing from the waterfront up to the fortresses above the city. One day is enough to visit the old core, the cathedral, and take a walk along the waterfront.
