Šibenik — Old Town and St. Michael's Fortress

Šibenik is about seventeen kilometers north of Primošten and has one of the best-preserved old towns on the Adriatic — the Cathedral of St. James is UNESCO-protected, and the fortress of St. Michael above the town offers views of the Krka estuary and the archipelago. Unlike Split or Dubrovnik, the town is not overly crowded with tourists in the middle of the day. It is easy to reach by car or bus and return the same day.
