La Crusc Sanctuary (Santa Croce) beneath Sas dla Crusc

Below the Sas dla Crusc rock face, which rises approximately 900 metres, at just over 2,000 metres above sea level stands a small church of the Holy Cross dating from the late 15th century — for centuries a place of pilgrimage for the Ladin-speaking communities of the valley. Next to it is one of the oldest mountain huts in the Dolomites. The sanctuary is reached from Pedraces by chairlift and cable car, and visitors can return on foot through the meadows. The view from the terrace takes in the whole of Alta Badia and the Puez massif.
