Trikala is a historic city known for its Ottoman bazaar, Byzantine fortress, and promenades along the Liteos river. It combines Byzantine, Ottoman, and contemporary heritage and makes for an easy half-day trip from Kalambaka. The Kale fortress offers views over the city and the surrounding Thessalian plain.
