Ascent to Etna — crater and lava fields

Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in Europe and is located about an hour's drive from Catania. A cable car takes you up to around 2,500 meters above sea level, from where organized jeep tours or hiking trails continue toward the higher craters. Fields of hardened lava, a volcanic landscape, and views over the eastern coast of Sicily make this excursion completely unlike anything else you will see on the island.
