The Valpolicella region begins just northwest of Verona, only 15 km from the city center — this is where Amarone and Ripasso are produced. Most wineries welcome visitors by appointment; some, such as Allegrini or Masi, offer guided tours with tastings lasting 2-3 hours. The easiest way to get there is by car or taxi, though organized tours from Verona are also available.
