The hills immediately northeast of Lucca form a lesser-known but solid Tuscan wine region — Vermentino and local Rosso are the specialties. Organized half-day tours depart from the center of Lucca, including a visit to one or two wineries with tasting and a short walk through the vineyards. You can also go by your own car — Fattoria Colle Verde and Tenuta Buonamico are two concrete options with open tastings.
