Sunset at Cape Assos with the old Venetian castle

Assos is a small coastal village in the northwest of Kefalonia, connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Above the village stands a 16th-century Venetian fortress, reached by a walking trail with panoramic views over the peninsula and the turquoise cove. An afternoon visit can easily be combined with a stroll through the village and dinner at one of the tavernas by the harbor.
