Zvernec Island

A small island in the lagoon north of Vlorë is connected to the mainland by a long wooden bridge that passes through shallow water and a pine forest. At its center stands the Monastery of Saint Mary, while the peaceful atmosphere and absence of city crowds give this place an entirely different character from the Vlorë seafront and promenade. The walk across the bridge and through the forest is just as much a part of the experience as the monastery itself.
