A small island in a lagoon northwest of Vlora, connected to the mainland by a long wooden bridge crossing a calm lagoon. The island is home to a 13th-century Orthodox monastery of Saint Mary, set within a pine forest that covers almost the entire island. The atmosphere is remarkably peaceful — far from the noise of the city. The bridge and the walk through the lagoon are scenic and especially popular around sunset. It is easy to combine with swimming at the nearby Plazhi i Vjetër beach or at the Venus Beach bar.
