A small sandy beach near the mouth of the Douro river where it meets the Atlantic, in the Foz do Douro district of Porto. Distinguished by the Felgueiras tower (Farol de Felgueiras) right on the beach — one of the symbols of Porto. Most beautiful before sunset when the waves crash against the rocks beneath the tower in golden light. Close to the Foz promenade, with cafes and restaurants nearby. The water is Atlantic — colder than Mediterranean beaches. Buses 500 and 1M from the center of Porto.
