The western city beach of Vlorë (Plazhi i Vjetër / Old Beach) is a long sandy shore stretching from the port northward, all the way to the island of Zvërnec. The part closest to the city is not the best choice (littered with rubbish and surrounded by scrubland), but things improve considerably the further along the coast you go — fewer crowds, a wider beach, and quieter beach bars. Venus Beach, located near the far end, is particularly recommended, featuring a pine forest and a peaceful sandy section of the beach.
