Einstein's House

Einstein's House

On the second floor of the building at Kramgasse 49, Albert Einstein lived from 1903 to 1905 — the period during which he developed the theory of relativity in Bern. The apartment is furnished in the style of the era, with period furniture, photographs, and texts on display, and the original spiral staircase has been preserved. The third floor houses an exhibition on his life and work, accompanied by a 20-minute film. The space is modest, so allow around an hour for your visit. The building sits right on Kramgasse, just a few steps from the Zytglogge, making it an easy addition to a walk through the Old Town.
